Throrn Puts The Iron, In Iron Golem
Our Fight with the Mind Flayers and the Iron Golem
According to the teachings of Throrn the definition of an illusion is an erroneous perception of reality. This is exactly the type of expectation that I had when entering the battle with the Mind Flayers. In previous battle’s we’ve been deceived by fake walls, and not so there Aboleths and other abominations that would lead the mind elsewhere in their deceitful trickery. It’s with these thoughts in mind that we slowly enter the room with the Mind Flayers.

The group decided to charge forth and all lay out their attack… that is all except me, Tenedos, and Gim. We didn’t rush into battle right away. I wanted to embrace the warrior’s strength that Throrn had bestowed upon me, while Gim was merely being patient. It was in his patience that he encountered a thumping from above. While the group one by one made excellent swings at Mind Flayers who appeared to be there, they all kept warning me that they were assured these were allusions. At the same time Gim was calling us towards the back of the room because he was certain the Iron Golem we had been warned about was there.

We all gathered around to where Gim was standing but to no avail were we able to see anything until Tenedos sprung forth with a bag of powder that he threw on the location we were looking at. It was at this moment when the bag ripped open and slammed into what appeared to be the lower torso of a Giant Iron Golem. Fear started to fill for a moment, but it subsided quickly when duty filled my heart. I then went into my standard actions of healing the wounded and caring empowering those who were having trouble even landing a single blow.

After some time of struggling against the foe, I realized that we were not really doing much damage to the creature and perhaps our efforts would be better served to search the rest of the cave out for the Mind Flayers who should be nearby. At first, I, Tenedos and Rorrin started searching the entire cave for them but came up empty. After a few more moments we all decided to make a final search in the last room we hadn’t thoroughly checked. Once inside, we found a door that was slightly opened. I assumed it must be the Mind Flayers hiding out, but apparently it was just another dumb dwarf who fell victim to the obvious illusions of the Mind Flayers. Although he did have nice armor it appeared that the dim-witted dwarf had nothing more to offer than his armor. Perhaps, he’ll prove his worth eventually but for now, no one has done that more quickly than Sergeant.

And just as I begin to praise him he leapt into battle again with the Iron Golem and started making swing after swing with his majestic sword. He and Gim truly stand for honorable combat and it was evident today with the destruction of that mechanical Golem that glory truly comes to those who attack their enemies head on. Another blow has been struck in the name of Throrn. For Throrn!
