It is days like these which make me question how we are going about our mission. Do we continue to plunge headlong into these situations only to lose another of our compatriots? I say, no.
Our goal is a dangerous one to reach; risks must be taken along the way, both with our lives and with the fate of the world. But that does not mean we should risk all at every obstacle we come to. And that is just what we have done. We lost that gamble, not when we failed to liberate those people, but when Arung died.
Chances must be taken; rash, foolish bravery and glory-hunting is not one of those chances that we need to take. We must learn that lesson, or we shall die, to the bane of all of good heart. |
